Sunday – First Communion! Mass starts at 2, please arrive no later than 1:45 (students should come down to our classroom) – We’ll take a group picture after – Some have really liked to come early and take all family pictures outside before Mass/before everyone is antsy after a long mass □.We’ll also be sharing our “How to” books with the Kindergarteners! Our Second Graders have done an awesome job on these and they’re excited to bring them home and share with you after this week! Cursive letters for the week are: F, G, S, L. Skills this week include practicing our spelling words, answering comprehension questions of our stories, and reading and spelling words with the “or” sound, as we see in our next spelling list. Those words are: worn, forty, wore, store, door, floor, four, pour, soar, board, warm, warn. Our next list begins on Wednesday and the test will be on the following Wednesday (due to our field trip). ![]() Superkids: Test for our current words will be on Tuesday – those words are: fair, stair, dairy, tear, wear, stare, share, merry, ferry, library, dictionary. The chapter will be pretty much the same, but measuring and estimating and problem solving with Centimeters and Meters instead. Next week we’ll begin Chapter 8, which is Measuring with Metric Units. Math: Today we finished Chapter 7 – Measuring with Customary Units. Religion: We’ll be celebrating 2nd Communion, and then wrapping up our last Chapter in our Blessed books which has lessons with names like “I am with you Always” and “Trusting in God,” which will help us remember how the Eucharist is exciting each time we receive Jesus, and not just the first time! □ Thursday we’ll get on the computers and explore a virtual Field Trip to the Statue of Liberty and do a little role playing imagining what Ellie Island was like. We’ll hear about the long journey, sea sickness, their nervousness to reach America, and their experience at Ellis Island. This week, the family just got on their boat to America after a long journey from Sweden to England. Social Studies: We will continue with our “Long Way to a New Land” book. Science: Next week we’ll continue with our Extreme Weather and Natural Disasters! Looking forward to a beautiful day on Sunday! We had another wonderful week! Students are enjoying getting to use their rulers, yardsticks, and measuring tape to measure items in our room, and have loved practicing for First Communion. ![]() Have a wonderful weekend! Friday – Field Day – 12:30-3:00 – Dress well for weather, in good running around shoes, and bring sunscreen! □.Wednesday – Spelling Test: worn, forty, wore, store, door, floor, four, pour, soar, board, warm, warn.Monday – Family Tradition Homework comes home – Due Thursday.We’ll also finish up the Cursive alphabet with L, P, R, B! Skills for the week include homophones, reading and spelling “or” words, reading and spelling words with the “er” sound, and comparing different versions of the same story (ie: retellings of Little Red Riding Hood, or the Three Little Pigs, etc.). Those words are: stir, birthday, desert, dessert, burn, Thursday, doctor, motor, earn, search, collar, forward. Math: We’re going to finish up Measurement, and then we’ll take a test on both Customary and Metric systems of Measurement on Thursday! Friday we’ll start our last chapter on Data with tally and picture graphs. Religion: This week and next we’ll be learning about a few more Saints – St. Social Studies: In Social Studies this week we’ll learn about celebrating cultures, discussing family traditions and notable famous American citizens whose heritage lies in another country. Science: This week we’ll be finishing up our extreme weather and natural disasters with Tsunamis! Oh my, what a busy week we had! Between First (and second!)
